Reneta's $3.31 Quilt from Night Owl Quilting

Reneta followed along with a mystery quilt that was sponsored by the Canadian Quilters Association in 2023. The pattern was free to members.  The pattern is called the $3.31 quilt and was designed by John at Art East Quilting Company.  The name comes from the fact that the images are those depicted on the Canadian coins that total $3.31.

Reneta dug into her stash to select the fabrics for all the blocks in this quilt.  All the animals just pop off her pretty background color.

Reneta originally thought that she wanted a maple leaf themed pantograph, but in ...

Cathy's Town Square from Night Owl Quilting

Cathy made this sweet farm themed quilt for a good friend's first great granddaughter.  Cathy used the Fabric Cafe Town Square pattern but added some sashing between the blocks to change it up a bit.

Cathy selected the Bora Bora pantograph for a breezy finish to this quilt.  The pattern shows up beautifully on the brown Cuddletex backing fabric.

Puffin Star from Night Owl Quilting

This darling quilt was made by pattern tester Reneta. The Puffin Star quilt is part of the new spring release patterns from Art East Quilting Company.

Blue and Yellow Scrap Buster from Night Owl Quilting

Karen dug into her scraps and made this wonderful blue and yellow quilt.  Scrap quilts are always fun for me when they are from someone I've quilted for a number of times.  I love looking at all the different prints and being reminded of quilts that have visited my studio previously.

Karen selected the Bora Boar pantograph and I love the flowing curls against the rectangle piecing.  Karen wasn't smitten with the original backing she brought along, and decided to replace it with the beautiful navy Stonehenge from my small collection of widebacks.

Isn't it amazing how ...

A Couple of Art East Quilts from Night Owl Quilting

Art East Quilting Company has some of the most fun patterns on the market today.  Recently two of them came through my studio.  First up is this darling quilt made by Shelly. This pattern is called "Cattle Call."

I just loved the colours Shelly used.   Shelly decided on the Bora Bora pantogrpah and a medium green thread.

Next up is Cindy's "Trending" quilt that was a Block of Month project from Art East over the last year.  Cindy selected her own farbics in a very similar color palette to what was offered in the original kit.

Cindy selected the ...

Friendship Star Variation from Night Owl Quilting

This classic quilt was made by Tannis.  A two color quilt has a lot of impact and this mix of blue and tan is lovely.

Tannis left the quilting plan up to me.  The Bora Bora was my choice.

I know this quilt is being given as a wedding gift and I am sure the couple will be thrilled.

Reneta's Scrappy Boats from Night Owl Quilting

Reneta sent me these two lovely scrappy boat quilts. Many of the blocks came from a swap Reneta participated in, but I know she made some herself as well.

When I took the tops out of the bag, I was sure that I knew the perfect pantograph for them and Reneta agreed.  Bora Bora has that feeling of a sea breeze and complimented the tops perfectly.

It is amazing to see the wide variety of fabrics that were used in constructing the blocks.  I'm sure I would have passed on some of the choices when piecing the blocks, but ...

Color Play from Night Owl Quilting

I love my work as a longarm quilter as I get to be up close and personal with quilts that I know I would never make but love.  This quilt made by Solange uses color, value and print in only a way that someone with a natural artist's eye could.

This quilt is a gift for Solange's sister who was present at our drop off appointment and help to select the pantograph design and thread color.  The Bora Bora pantograph flows effortlessly over the quilt top and a murky So Fine thread #516 called Gondola Gold, blended in ...
